Julie HUTCHINGS
Julie Hutchings has been painting full time for eighteen years. She has won numerous awards during that time. She conducts life drawing sessions on a weekly basis.
“Drawing is a major discipline. Whilst subject matter is important to me it is the process and journey of the painting which excites, the relationship that starts with the first brushstroke and mark making on the canvas or paper and my response to the surface and materials. I am an intuitive artist and my art is a distillation of expression, energy and emotion.”
Hutchings has twice been a finalist in the International Cricket Art Prize and the 2013 Northern Rivers Portrait Prize. She was a finalist in the Manning Art Prize in 2013.
Since 2001 she has exhibited regularly in New South Wales, Victoria and Queensland in both solo and group shows. Hutchings is represented in corporate, private and public collections in Australia and overseas.
